The Soi Dog Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2003 and is dedicated to saving stray dogs and cats. Soi is based in Thailand, where there are millions of street animals. This number continues to grow due to a lack of sterilization programs.

To address this problem of overpopulation, the organization spays, neuters, vaccinates, and shelters street animals until they are adopted. To date, Soi has spayed and vaccinated over 357,430 dogs and cats. Soi mainly works in Phuket, Bangkok, and other provinces of Thailand. Currently, Soi is developing a mobile sterilization program in the Bangkok metropolitan area, where approximately 640,000 street dogs reside. This program will be fully completed in 7 years and will consist of 10 mobile clinics.
Soi responds to emergencies, which include road traffic accidents, serious wounds, poisonings, and general cruelty cases. Diseases such as distemper, sarcoptic and demodectic mange, parvovirus infection, and canine transmissible tumours are widespread among strays in Thailand. Other cases include fractures due to car accidents, infected wounds, and skin and tick-borne diseases. Thanks to Soi, the population of these animals on the island is now under control. By 2025, there should be few strays in Phuket.
Soi also campaigns for overall animal welfare and is fighting the Asian dog meat trade. This practice involves stealing dogs from their owners, snatching them from streets, and transporting them long distances to be inhumanely slaughterered. The dogs are tortured and then skinned alive. People who participate in this practice believe that the pain makes the meat taste more tender. Soi has almost completely wiped out the trade in Thailand and has undercover investigators who monitor for signs of the practice re-emerging. Soi continues to rescue hundreds of dogs from the trade and finds them loving homes. The organization is working to end the trade in Vietnam, South Korea, China, and other countries.
