Arthur's Acres Animal Sanctuary

Arthur's Acres Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in Parksville, New York that saves farm animals and gives them a safe place to live the rest of their natural lives. The nonprofit was founded in 2018 by Todd Friedman, who had been looking to purchase the property to hopefully create a sanctuary. The land had been a "farm-to-table" facility, where animals were slaughtered for consumption.

"Pigs, goats and other small animals had been raised and slaughtered right here on the property. Like a real-time horror show [...] the property immediately showed its dark side. We began opening doors and came across remains of animals, decomposing birds, cutting tools, and bone saws. Blood stained the walls, and the windows were barricaded, letting in no light. The smell of death and urine was so great in some areas it was overwhelming." - Todd, founder of Arthur's Acres, on the condition of the previous "farm-to-table" property

When touring the space, Todd found a 3.5 month old piglet and refused to leave without him. He negotiated with the owner, who surrendered the animal, Arthur. Arthur was the first resident at the new sanctuary.

Now, Arthur's Acres is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abused and neglected animals and educating others on the importance of maintaining a cruelty-free lifestyle. The organization cares for pigs, chickens, cats, dogs, roosters, and more who all have touching stories that you can read about here. You can also sponsor any of these animals!
