2020 Puppy Bowl & Dog Bowl!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

If football isn't your thing, don't worry -- you can still have fun today watching the 2020 Puppy Bowl!

The Puppy Bowl is an annual event run by Animal Planet right before the Super Bowl. Dogs are split into two teams and compete for a trophy. The adorable pups run around in a mini football stadium, playing with toys and scoring "touchdowns."

The Puppy Bowl is obviously cute and fun, but its real purpose is to encourage adoptions. ALL puppies competing in the Bowl are up for adoption! The Puppy Bowl has been run for the past 16 years and has created successful rescue stories for 100% of its competitors. In this year's event, 96 puppies (the highest number of participants in any Puppy Bowl in history) from 61 shelters and rescue organizations throughout the Unites States will compete. The scorekeeper, Surge the Hamster, and the stars of the halftime show -- cats Jenni-Purr Lopez and Cat-ira -- are also up for adoption!

CNN states, "FIVE of the puppy athletes have special needs, including a three-legged Labrador Retriever mix, two hearing-impaired pups, a blind and hearing-impaired Shetland Sheepdog mix and an American Staffordshire Terrier and Bulldog mix with cleft palates." To adopt one of the animals, click here to find the pup/kitten/hamster and their corresponding shelters. Contact the shelter directly to inquire about adoption.

To watch Puppy Bowl XVI, tune into Animal Planet at 3 p.m. ET tonight (February 2) or watch the event live on Animal Planet's Go app!

The Dog Bowl will also be taking place for the third year in a row! This event has the same idea as the Puppy Bowl, but participants are dogs ranging from 3 years of age and up. During this year's Dog Bowl, 65 dogs from 32 shelters will be split into Team Goldies and Team Oldies to compete for the Super Senior Award. All of these amazing pooches are up for adoption! Click here to see the lineup, and contact the shelter/rescue organization with the dog to give one a fur-ever home!

To watch the Dog Bowl III, tune into Animal Planet at 8 p.m. ET tonight (February 2) or watch the event on Animal Planet's Go app!
